Weekend Loose Ends

First off – 21 more days until Fall Practice gets under way and that’s when you can begin to see some pieces of the puzzle fall into place for the upcoming 2009 Michigan Wolverine campaign.

  • In a Detroit Free Press article Michael Shaw talks about playing hurt last season and not being able to run full speed. In the Minnesota win he had some solid runs but wasn’t able to pull away from the Minnesota D. This off-season Shaw underwent surgery for a sports hernia and is now getting back to full speed with the rest of the team.
  • An offensive lineman named Kurt Wermers is leaving the squad and transferring to a recently successful Ball State team. Wermers redshirted in 2008 and hasn’t ever seen a real down on the field. He was recruited by Carr and cited the change in coaching philosophies behind his decision to leave the program.

  • Roy Roundtree

  • Here is a good little article on Michigan’s star receiver of the 2009 Spring Game – Roy Roundtree. Roundtree was the guy that Rodriguez snatched away from Joe Tiller and the Purdue Boilermakers on signing day of last year. Tiller wasn’t happy about it and let the nation know that Rodriguez was poaching other teams recruits! Come on Tiller!! Get with the program – there are SO many commits and decommits every single year. Looking forward to see Roundtree get some time on the field this season.
