Tate for Heisman?
ESPN’s Heisman Predictor, umm doesn’t mean much, but hey what the hell I’ll entertain the conversation.
The biggest surprise of the season is Michigan freshman quarterback Tate Forcier. He is just four games into his college career and has already led two fourth-quarter comebacks. Struggling with the lowly Hoosiers isn’t exactly the way Michigan wanted to start its Big Ten schedule, but as long as the Wolverines keep winning, Forcier will remain in the Heisman hunt. Michigan will need to go undefeated for the freshman to even think about winning the award, but if the Wolverines continue to exceed expectations, he’ll have a shot at finishing in the upper half of the top 10.
It’s certainly possible, but lots of these story-starving media folk only looks at the wins and losses column. They haven’t seen Michigan’s defense struggle, badly, for the past two and almost three games. I don’t even go here, but I’ll dance around it – IF, if, if and if Michigan happens to squeeze by the next couple road games at MSU and at Iowa – then you might see this hype pick up a little bit. One loss, just one – and it’s most likely out the window.
From Collegefootballnews.com…
As long as he’s the starting quarterback for an undefeated Michigan team, he’ll be in the discussion. He’ll be seen as the signature star and the reason to be the reemergence of the superpower program. His Heisman chances go beyond mere statistics; he’s a playmaker and he’s getting the reputation for being a clutch winner.
