Midweek Notes: Wed. Presser & Other News

Notes from Rich Rod’s Wednesday presser before practice…

  • Forcier was limited in practice Monday and Tuesday, but will be full go today
  • Iowa’s defensive line will be the best Michigan has seen this year – they are very quick off the ball
  • On night games, RR likes them but not enough to push for one. ESPN wants one at Michigan Stadium
  • No worries relative to Iowa’s pink locker room
  • The 2nd cornerback position is still unsettled. Kovacs and Williams will both see time at Safety
  • Brandon Minor is the closest he has been to 100% since training camp and has been full go this entire week. RR mentions that he made it through Tuesday’s practice fine, noting that it’s the most physical weekly practice day. On a similar note, Carlos Brown did not practice Wednesday because of an undisclosed injury. Might this be the week where Minor can carry the load? Let’s hope so…..per RR…

“The past few weeks he’s been limited during the weeks,” Rodriguez said. “Tuesday practices are our most physical practice and (this week) he went through the whole practice on Tuesday. It’s probably, and again talking to him, it’s the best he’s felt in several weeks.”

RR presser snippet from AA news…

OTHER PRACTICE NEWS.
So apparently Greg Robinson is really shaking things up in the secondary because he is toying with moving starting safety Troy Woolfolk back to the corner position. This would leave Kovaks and Williams as the starting safeties with little depth behind them. I’m all for Robinson doing what he has to do to either get it right, or shake things up enough to get the D playing with some fire. Yea, that talent isn’t at all what it could or what it will be, but at any rate progress is progress and you’ll take it any way you can get it. RR on the status of the safety position…

“Kovacs has played well enough that we feel really confident in him. I think Mike Williams is healthier now and so he’ll continue to play. I know we’ve said this a bunch of times, but we’re trying to get a bunch of guys in the game and get depth, but they’ve got to show us in practice or in limited opportunities that they can do it. And that’s the issue we’re in with all our guys.”
