Jim Tressell Makes ESPN The Mag Cover

Ohio State, hi.  How are things?

Things aren’t going well when your standard, branded, renown font used by your university logo is on the cover of ESPN The Magazine saying “BUSTED”.

That’s a cover right there.  And yes, that’s one Jim Tressell they are referencing with that red sweater vest.  You may not have known that.

This is one of the more entertaining offseason’s in recent memory for Michigan football.  Well, positive entertainment that is.

All speculative indications point towards more bad news coming for the Ohio State football program – and it could come out soon.  All you have to do, is take a glance through the press release requests from the media.  It’s interesting, and I recommend checking it out if you have a few to spare.  I’m not typically one to take pleasure from the pitfalls of another, but this is a bit different.  And it might be even more different if I didn’t feel like “it’s about damn time that the tables are turning in Michigan’s freaking favor because I’m ready to celebrate some good seasons around here.  And I’m tired of living in Ohio around all these buckeye homers that still don’t think that Tressell did enough wrong to warrant something like the beautiful magazine cover above.”

Not only is there the Ohio State fiasco to going on, but Brady Hoke and Michigan’s coaching staff is killing it out there on the recruiting trail.  All you have to do is take a look at the commits to date and see that Hoke and staff are pulling in 4-star talent from MICHIGAN and Ohio.  Michigan State is literally (ok they may have one commit from Michigan, but I don’t think he was offered from the Hokester Mob) being shut out in-state.

Recruiting is Much Fun

I always had confidence in Rich Rod’s ability to pull in a quality class, but regardless of how bad Michigan’s defense was – you wouldn’t see nearly as many defensive commits as you do in the list below if Rodriguez was still Michigan’s head coach.  I for one, cannot wait until Michigan has a powerful defense with impactful players at the linebacker position.  David Harris?  He’s the last linebacker that really stands out in my mind as a dominant player and a potential game-changer.

Hoke already has four linebackers in this class – and if any of them standout in the fall next August – they are going to see the field.

Man what a difference in the general feel about ohio's program versus Michigan's comparatively when looking at the last two summers. Could you imagine seeing that cover last summer? Who know's what else is going to come out in Ohio.

    We shall see…
