I like it.  Michigan football’s resurgence is not only wearing on those folks from Ohio, but also in Oklahoma!  So this school decided that a 5-year old was not allowed to don the Maize and Blue because of a policy.  Said policy only allows in-state colleges’ gear to be worn, which makes a 5-year old turn his shirt so it’s inside out.  Cool policy!

Michigan Wolverine football apparently is not only frowned upon in the state of Ohio, but also in Oklahoma.

An Oklahoma City 5-year-old student was forced to turn his maize and blue T-shirt inside-out by the elementary school principal, according to a report by KWTV News 9.

Although he couldn’t sport his family’s favorite school colors, he can wear an Oklahoma Sooners or Oklahoma State Cowboys shirt. Oklahoma City Public Schools only allow in-state college apparel to be worn.

The policy has the kindergartener’s mother outraged.

“They should really worry about academics. It wasn’t offensive. He’s 5,” she told News 9.

D Mo!  I think most have high expectations for this guy.  Enjoyed the bit about his father potentially naming him after the great Desmond Howard.

Michigan comes in with one first place vote! Here’s Illinois writer Bob Asmussen’s justification (there’s more from ol’ Bobby in the AA News article):

“I decided late spring on Michigan, and said, “OK, I’ll take the hits.’ Up (in Ann Arbor), I’ll be fine, but elsewhere, you can imagine the fan reaction to this. Even the Illinois reaction, they don’t like Michigan, so they’re like, ‘Why are you doing this?’”

“First of all, Brady Hoke has done a great job,” Asmussen said of the second-year Michigan coach. “I think when he came in there, it could have been a disaster. And instead, he managed that season last year. So, I’m impressed with the way he’s turned that thing.

“I think they have extreme momentum going into the year, coming off the bowl and they played well down the stretch last year. I like that, and I think that’s important to this team because, they obviously lost their way under (Rich Rodriguez).

“I like what he does, I like the staff he has there. So start with the coaching. I think it’s fantastic, and everywhere (Hoke’s) gone, he’s done this. He’s been good, and now he actually has the bodies to help him win a national championship.”

“I think they had all summer to get ready for Alabama, and I think there will be a little bit of a hangover with Alabama,” he said. “If you look at their history, (the Crimson Tide) don’t win back-to-back titles. They win a title, then they fall back. And nobody talks about this, but their defense got clubbed (by turnover).

“I just have a gut feeling, for no reason, that Michigan wins that game. Then all bets are off at that point. Now, they may lose 38-10 and I’ll get ridiculed and that’s OK, but I just have a feeling, for whatever reason, they’ll be OK in that game.”

You gotta respect a guy like Elliott for persevering through what he and his family endured.  If you were there, you’d never forget how special of a moment it was when Brock and Elliott led the team on the field for the 2010 Connecticut season opener.

JT is a well-spoken dude.  This is one of the more enjoyable Countdown to Kickoff episodes to watch.  Let’s hope we see this kind of play out of JT come September 1st.

Jeremy Gallon forced Michigan fans to cringe at his every presence on the field in 2010, but managed to turn a complete 180 relative to his play in a very positive 2011 season.  Big things are expected out of this guy in ’12.
