The injury report for this week is identical to the injury report for Iowa two weeks ago.

OUT (0% chance of playing)

S Mike Williams, head

WR Martavious Odoms, foot

RB Fitgerald Toussaint, shoulder

OUT (out for entire season)

S, Jared Van Slyke, clavicle

CB Troy Woolfolk, leg

LB Mike Jones, leg

So Michigan State’s Chris L. Rucker gets out of jail yesterday – and is immediately reinstated to the team and found himself on the practice field. ESPN Big Ten blogger Adam Rittenberg isn’t exactly buying into this decision and a nice read from Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News that goes here…

Dantonio just took Michigan State’s special run and needlessly swaddled it in controversy, and I’m astonished he did it. Mere hours after being released from jail, senior cornerback Chris L. Rucker was reinstated Thursday and back at practice, and I honestly don’t know how Dantonio can think the decision is good for his program.

and…

But this almost speaks to a growing arrogance, and you could see it when Dantonio refused to answer a perfectly reasonable question about Rucker the other day. He practically sneered, and while that’s part of the demeanor that makes him a good coach, it can be misused.

Yes, he knows far more than us about the player and the dormitory fight and the punishment still awaiting Rucker. In many cases, I trust Dantonio’s judgment. In this case, I seriously wonder.

mark dantonio is cool as shit

Now, a certain newspaper in the Detroit media market chose to call out Rich Rodriguez when former Michigan backup QB Justin Feagin was kicked off the team. This newspaper said that Rich Rod runs a “Win at all costs” type of program. The poor reporting seemed to think that RR knew about Feagin’s checkered past before he offered the kid a scholarship – wrong. The poor reporting failed to rightfully note the quick action RR took by kicking Feagin off the team indefinitely.

So here we are – Michigan State’s coach lets a guy back on the practice field THE SAME FREAKING DAY he was released from jail!!! Geez. And a certain Detroit newspaper, not the Detroit News, as far as I know hasn’t put anything out there yet.

I’m biased, but damn I don’t care for Mark Dantonio. He definitely comes off as arrogant and gets offended rather easily. I give RR a lot of credit for the manner in which he’s handled the media scrutiny in Ann Arbor throughout a couple tough losing seasons. Dantionio would not be able to take the high road and deflect questions as well as RR. Just sayin’.

So unless something has changed in 24 hours, and of course it could have, but I expect to see Molk starting at center. Same goes for Carlos Brown and Brandon Minor – I think both guys will get a decent amount of carries and RR will go with whoever seems to be in a better rhythm.

Injury Report
As stated over on Mgoblog, the injury report this week is Mcguffie-licious – as in full of concussed players. Actually just Carlos Brown and Tate Forcier are listed as probable with a 75% chance of playing. Zac Johnson is still out with a shoulder injury and David Molk is still out with this quickly healing but not quite ready yet foot.

Ricky Leach Gets Mad
Not to change the subject or anything, but the injury report brings usually nothing we don’t already know – here’s something that you don’t hear everyday. Ricky Leach called in to the Michigan Insider on WTKA today and talked to Sam Webb and Ira about Lloyd Carr, his attendance at the Iowa game and his general stance of silence on Rich Rod’s Michigan program. Leach said that Lloyd had “flipped a huge middle finger” at RR and what he is trying to do in this program.

First, I think Leach is taking this a bit far. He has been very vocal about his support for what Rich Rod is doing with this program and let’s the world know how he feels. I think he is still bitter that Lloyd never came out and gave even an ounce of support for the program before this season started. It’s easy to see why people interpret Lloyd’s silence as a sign of no support – and you have to wonder. If Lloyd had great respect and truly liked Rich, you would think that he’d vocalize it at some point in time. To me it’s a non issue. The program is what we care about as Michigan fans and the program is in the hands of Rich Rodriguez. I have respect for Lloyd Carr, his philosophies, and what he did for the Michigan program. Change is here and the transition has been made. No need to get all worked up about something that really doesn’t effect the program a great deal.

The QB Sitch Against Delaware State
I’m guessing Denard Robinson gets the start this week against Delaware State. If Tate plays, maybe he goes for the first couple series in the first quarter and that’s about it. I think you’ll see Denard play for a solid 2 to 3 quarters and Sheridan / Coner will get the rest of the time. This from RR on Thursday…

“If Tate’s cleared and he’s 100 percent and he’s able to do all the practices this week from Wednesday on, then he’ll be the starter,” Rodriguez said. “But we feel confident in Denard (Robinson), and Nick Sheridan’s had a great week of practice. He’s ready as well.”
